Billinton C2 class 0-6-0 no 522 goods tender engine
Marsh C3 class 0-6-0 no 309 goods tender engine
The C3 class were designed by D E Marsh shortly after his appointment as CME for the LBSCR.
They were intended for use on heavy coal traffic from the GWR, but were found to be not up to the task. In later years modified C3 boilers were fitted to C2 0-6-0 goods engines creating the C2X class. These later engines were the most powerful and useful 0-6-0 tender engines built for the Brighton.
No 309 was involved in a few accidents including two on the Brighton turntable.
Construction of the engine is making good progress, with the loco body and tender almost finished. The loco chassis is part complete.
